Star Trek Voyager held so much promise. The pilot was easily the best of all the post Original Series pilots, but the show quickly went downhill and settled in to utter mediocrity.
For me, the biggest problem was the Kazon. They were a terrible enemy species (just a step above the Ferengi when they were introduced as the supposed new, "Bad guys," on TNG), but the producers stuck with them for years. Years. With the Voyager moving at Warp Speed, even if the Kazon empire were five times the size of the entire Federation the Voyager would have been out of Kazon space within a month or two. But they kept them in Kazon space for years. At Warp Speed. It so defied logic that it ruined the series for me. And that's a shame, because I loved the cast and the characters.
Voyager could have been a great show, but instead it became totally mediocre when it came to the storylines. And the failure of Voyager to live up to it's potential hurt Enterprise, with a lot of fans already giving up on the Star Trek franchise before that series even premiered.
