The set design for the 1978 series was by far the most ambitious in TV history to that point. The bridge set alone was huge, and the attention to detail was stunning. They patterned the designed on NASA's control room, and you can see it in the attached picture. Every station has a keyboard and a monitor, and there are a couple dozen stations. The control platform rotated and was higher than all the other stations. It was unbelievably impressive and even stands out as a more impressive bridge set than the one used for the reimagined series, which is quite a feat (and noteworthy) because it came thirty years earlier! The other sets were outstanding as well, with the hangar deck and launch bays particularly impressive. Clearly, Glen Larson didn't skimp on the budget for the sets. The show looked great!
